Courtney where did you get the information for the EIC ship Nottingham and JB working as an Anchor Smith at the Kings Yard? I have found his father already living in Woolwich.
His Dad David is an enigma. I know he was living in Woolwich but not what he was doing. I know he died in Calcutta 1805. I suspect he was a ship’s captain.
I knew it! Alice Dickson!!, I’m descended from George. Have your side always known about our Indian lady Anna Desse/Dessa? We have. Not her name though. Great shame they pulled down Bonnarsteads pub and house.
Yes that’s right - and yes my grandad used to tell us she was an indian princess although I haven’t found any evidence of that as of yet! Haha. Yes it is a shame about that - we actually had my grandads funeral there before it was pulled down.
I managed to visit it just before they pulled it down. I even contacted the brewery to ask about the deeds! No not a princess but i know she lived on Dhurmtollah rd calcutta (might be a bit off with the spelling!). The family were quite wealthy. Did you know the last daughter Anne born 1812 dec remained? So if she married we have relations there now! You should go mudlarking on the Hooghly river. Do any of you have jet black hair and dark brown hair and a tendency to tan with extreme ease? My Dad had all 3! You know that James Bonner is buried in St Bartholemew’s with Jane Hepburn? I found some graves in the cemetery up near Sunniside. It’s huge! I had hoped i’d find Francis Dickson and Margaret Bonner but alas, no! You know their daughter Jane was found drowned on Spittal beach?
James first 3 children born in India Were Elizabeth John and Thomas their mother was Magdalina Johnston who we believe was Indian I have 2% Indian DNA.Our mission is to find a portrait of James he had money so would have thought he would have had a portrait painted and also his family
My great grandmother was Maria Bonner her father was Edgar his Father was John and his was our James Bonner.
Courtney is it possible to send me a direct message.

I think it was at Kew Archives or potentially the British newspaper online - would need to dig out the info

Hi Courtney, I am another relative via the Dickson line. Are you from the Short family tree? Alice Dickson & Richard Short?
Yes that’s right :)
